Chapter 113 Project Establishment
Chapter 113 Project Establishment
Wei Hongsi didn't have to wait long before he received a reply from Fang Wei, who recommended eight people, twice the number of positions he had requested.
When Xu Xinwan and Xue Ying recommended candidates to him before, there were one or two more people than he wanted, which actually expressed their attitude.
By reading the information of these candidates, Wei Hongsi formed an initial impression of their professional abilities and work experience. He then prioritized selecting people with experience in technical development and system implementation and placed them in the project team's personnel framework.
He hadn't met any of these people, so selecting candidates this way was definitely not objective. Following the normal recruitment process, he should have met with the shortlisted candidates to discuss their qualifications. Conclusions drawn from interviews aren't always accurate, but they're certainly better than relying solely on application materials.
However, the people recommended here have worked at Zhiwei for at least one or two years, and sometimes three to five years. The fact that they have been recommended by their superiors speaks volumes and is more reliable than a brief meeting.
Therefore, Wei Hongsi planned to observe directly at work to determine the final decision on whether to stay or leave. He also analyzed and compared those who were not selected for the time being and included them in the pool of candidates.
Whether a person is a good fit for a job depends on their abilities and experience, but these are not the only criteria and are sometimes even less important.
After Wei Hongsi finalized the list of candidates, he sent the list to their recommenders.
Within a company, normal personnel turnover is usually a two-way selection process. The person he likes may not be willing to come, so the recommender needs to communicate with the target candidate.
Making such a decision always requires a process of consideration and weighing of options. Unless one is extremely dissatisfied with their current position or team leader, like Yuan Zhenhui, it is unlikely that a decision can be made immediately.
After finishing this task, Wei Hongsi went to the tea room outside to get a cup of water. When he returned, he saw a chat message pop up on his WD, sent by Gu Shiming.
"If you have time right now, come to 2801."
Wei Hongsi couldn't help but feel puzzled. 2801 was the president's office; what could President Dai possibly want with him? He had just finished reporting that morning, and President Dai didn't personally oversee the project matters; surely he wouldn't be asking about these things again?
He took a couple of sips of water, replied, "Received, coming right away," and then left the office.
Take the elevator to the 28th floor, and you'll see Liu Zhifeng waiting for you.
Previously, Wu Wenjun had dragged me along to find Yu Zhen to report the crime, and it was this man who drove us there.
"Captain Liu," Wei Hongsi greeted him first.
"Mr. Wei, please come with me." Liu Zhifeng smiled and nodded, leading Wei Hongsi to room 2801 and opening the door for him to enter.
The CEO's office is very spacious, resembling a large single-level building. Upon entering, there is a large living room, and at the far end is an open-plan dining area.
Liu Zhifeng led Wei Hongsi to the door of the office area on the left side of the living room and asked him to go in alone.
Wei Hongsi walked inside and saw Dai Songquan sitting on the sofa directly opposite him. He went up to him and greeted him, "President Dai."
Dai Songquan smiled and stretched out his arms: "Hongsi, look who's that?"
Wei Hongsi turned his head, was taken aback when he saw the person sitting on the other sofa, and then took a few steps forward with a look of surprise: "Teacher, you're back!"
The man was about forty-eight or forty-nine years old, wearing a short-sleeved white shirt. He was somewhat thin, with slightly graying short hair and a warm smile on his face. He was none other than Academician Zhou Qihong, Wei Hongsi's mentor.
Zhou Qihong laughed and said, "I just got off the plane and you, my boss, caught me."
Dai Songquan immediately retorted, "Nonsense, aren't you his boss?"
Zhou Qihong snorted: "He ran off to work for you halfway through his studies, what kind of boss am I?"
Dai Songquan said, "Then let's switch."
Zhou Qihong said, "Don't you dare. I can't do your job, and you can't do mine either."
Wei Hongsi knew that the two were classmates, so it was normal for them to joke around.
There were a few people sitting in the reception area. On Zhiwei's side were Ji Yongsheng and Gu Shiming, as well as Liu Guanhong and Zhao Hongquan, who had gone abroad with Zhou Qihong for the inspection.
Liu Guanhong is 32 years old this year. She was also Zhou Qihong's student. After graduation, she stayed at the university to teach and is now a professor and doctoral supervisor.
Zhao Hongquan and Feng Weixu are in the same year and are also preparing to graduate next year. After graduation, they are basically confirmed to stay at the university.
Wei Hongsi greeted the others and then sat down.
After exchanging a few jokes with Dai Songquan, Zhou Qihong got down to business: "Hongsi, your CEO Dai is interested in collaborating with our school on industry-academia-research projects, you know about that, right?"
"I know a little," Wei Hongsi nodded. "I heard Senior Brother Shiming mention it."
When Gu Shiming heard Wei Hongsi address him, a slight smile appeared on his lips.
"I've always had this idea too. So when you said you wanted to work and do research at the same time, I reluctantly agreed."
As Zhou Qihong spoke, he couldn't help but glare at Wei Hongsi. "However, I haven't figured out what topic this research collaboration should cover, so I haven't been in a hurry to move forward. I heard from Director Dai that the work you've been involved in recently has a research direction and is very practical. Could you tell me about it?"
"OK."
Wei Hongsi gave a brief overview of the prevention and treatment of "psychological viruses".
These things might take a long time to explain to others, but they can be said in just a few words to a teacher. It's not appropriate to go into detail about the cases the police are currently investigating, but the negative effects already produced and the potential serious social harm can still be mentioned.
In fact, the three people from Zhiwei present were quite aware of this. Even if they didn't know before, after listening to Wei Hongsi's report this morning, they were at least able to explain things clearly.
However, Wei Hongsi's role in this project is irreplaceable, and it is certainly most appropriate for him to report to his teacher.
After listening, Zhou Qihong nodded: "Your approach avoids the shortcomings of traditional psychological interventions and combines cognitive science with engineering technology, which is a breakthrough. You've done a great job, and it's very appropriate to use this as a preliminary research topic for our collaboration."
He then looked at Dai Songquan: "When do you plan to move forward?"
Dai Songquan said, "The sooner the better."
Zhou Qihong smiled and said, "It's quick to finalize the framework. But you'll have to let me report to the school first; I can't make that decision on my own."
Dai Songquan laughed and said, "We're in the same boat. But for you, it's just a formality, while for me it's a bit more complicated."
Zhou Qihong scoffed, "What's so complicated about it? Could this possibly stump you, Boss Dai?"
Dai Songquan smiled and didn't continue the topic, saying, "How about we go back after dinner tonight? It's been a long time since we got together."
Zhou Qihong waved his hand and said, "Let's do it another day. I just got back, and I can't explain it to anyone if I don't report to my work unit or go home. If you're sincere, let me set a time."
Dai Songquan said, "That's all thanks to your words."
