Chapter 37 Special Meeting
Chapter 37 Special Meeting
Wei Hongsi came out of Yu Sheng's director's office, went to his workstation to get a cup, and went to the tea room to get some water. As soon as he entered, he saw He Feng standing in front of the coffee machine, and greeted him with a smile, "Manager He, having coffee again?"
He Feng turned to look at Wei Hongsi, a somewhat unnatural smile on his face: "I'm used to it. But the company's coffee beans are medium roast, which I'm not quite used to..."
"Oh!" Wei Hongsi chuckled and nodded. He never drank coffee and had no idea what the difference was between dark and light roasts. But he knew that Manager He's explanation was obviously a bit guilty, so this guy must have complained about him to Yu Sheng that morning.
"You'll be quite busy lately, won't you?" He Feng asked.
"well enough."
"Then our team won't assign you any work tasks for the time being."
Wei Hongsi was somewhat amused and exasperated: "Then thank you, Supervisor He."
"No, no need." He Feng smiled awkwardly and left the tea room with his coffee.
Wei Hongsi poured himself a glass of warm water, returned to his workstation, opened the IR1 project group discussion group, and began his work according to the task assignments that Gu Shiming had posted earlier that morning.
The purpose of this project team was to restore Solution B to its state before it was rendered by CMS. The IR1 model, completed in the early hours of the morning, only formed a foundation for the entire task. However, with this foundation, the subsequent work will be much smoother and not particularly difficult; we just need to follow the steps.
About an hour later, a meeting notification popped up on WD, which Wei Hongsi opened and browsed.
—Conference Theme: Technical Discussion on CMS Application Expansion.
—Initiator: Ji Yongsheng.
—Attendees: Gu Shiming, Qian Jiayu, Yu Sheng, Wei Hongsi, Fang Wei, Wang Kang, Yao Huafeng, Chai Xinwei.
——Time & Location: 15:30 on the same day; Conference Room 2206.
Compared to the meeting notice I received yesterday afternoon, this one was much more formal. I was no longer a peripheral figure pulled in to explain the situation. Not only was I officially listed, but surprisingly, I was also ranked quite high.
Of the last four people on the attendee list, Wei Hongsi only recognized Yao Huafeng. Yao was a senior project manager in their second department, equivalent to a deputy director. He didn't recognize the other three, but they were likely at a similar level to Yao Huafeng, or at least not lower than Wei Hongsi, a newcomer who had only recently joined the company.
Therefore, the only reason his name is listed ahead of these four people is because he was involved in the matter earlier. Thus, the true purpose of the so-called seminar on CMS applications is self-evident.
In Gu Shiming's newly released task assignments, some tasks still haven't been assigned to specific individuals. Adding four more people to the IR1 project team is understandable, given that was their plan last night.
However, holding this meeting so solemnly on the 22nd floor, besides the fact that the issues involved are quite special and require a higher level of confidentiality, should be more than just completing the task of restoring solution B.
As Wei Hongsi was pondering this, a figure suddenly appeared in his peripheral vision. Turning his head, he saw He Feng standing beside him and asked, "Manager He, is something the matter?"
"Well, I heard from General Manager Yu that you've been assigned other work recently. I just wanted to know how long you'll be busy so I can plan our team's work accordingly."
As He Feng spoke, he glanced at Wei Hongsi's computer screen, only to see a landscape image as a screensaver.
"It shouldn't be too long, but I can't say for sure how long it will take," Wei Hongsi said, feigning contemplation.
"Oh, I see." He Feng paused for a moment, then asked, "So, is your current job related to the guys at the amusement park?"
Wei Hongsi smiled slightly but did not reply.
"Alright, you go ahead and get busy." He Feng coughed and turned to leave.
Wei Hongsi continued with his work. Fifteen minutes before the meeting, he tidied up his desk, locked his computer, and left his workstation.
Inside the elevator lobby, Yu Sheng and Yao Huafeng were waiting for the elevator when Wei Hongsi greeted them.
Yao Huafeng was about thirty-five or thirty-six years old, of medium build, with a round face, short hair, and wearing black-rimmed glasses. He smiled and nodded to Wei Hongsi, appearing very polite, but Wei Hongsi could tell from his eyes that the other man did not recognize him.
The elevator arrived shortly after, and the three entered the car, which was empty. Wei Hongsi pressed the button for the 22nd floor. After the doors closed, Yu Sheng asked, "Hongsi, what did He Feng say to you?"
Wei Hongsi immediately knew that Yu Sheng had seen He Feng talking to him earlier, so he told the truth: "Manager He asked me how long my current work would take and wanted to know when I could be assigned tasks."
Yu Sheng frowned slightly and gently shook his head.
When Yao Huafeng saw Wei Hongsi also going to the 22nd floor and heard Yu Sheng call his name, he couldn't help but show a slight surprise. There was a name on the meeting list that he didn't recognize at all. He had thought it was a highly skilled person who had jumped ship from elsewhere or someone who had been newly promoted from another department, but he didn't expect it to be a young person from his own department.
The elevator quickly reached the 22nd floor. The membership process was the same as when Wei Hongsi last came: swipe a card to enter the turnstile, hand over all electronic devices, and undergo a security search. Yu Sheng and Yao Huafeng were treated the same way; there was no discrimination.
Wei Hongsi didn't know when this process was established, but he figured something must have happened before.
2206 was a relatively small conference room. When the three entered, Chief Strategist Yong Sheng and Gu Shiming were already seated at the head of the oval conference table. At Yu Sheng's prompting, Wei Hongsi sat down next to him.
Soon after, the other attendees arrived. Yu Sheng quietly introduced them to Wei Hongsi: Fang Wei and Wang Kang were the director and deputy director of Department 6, respectively; Chai Xinwei was the senior project manager of Department 5.
When Fang Wei and the other two saw Wei Hongsi, they all showed similar expressions to Yao Huafeng.
With over ten thousand employees, it's impossible to know everyone. However, at the deputy director level and above, the number of people is much smaller, with only about forty people on the entire technical line. Even if they don't know each other personally, they at least know each other's names.
So they immediately recognized the unfamiliar name on the meeting list as the young man next to Yu Sheng. The youngest person present was at least thirty-three or thirty-four, making Wei Hongsi stand out conspicuously.
Once everyone was present, Ji Yongsheng gestured to close the meeting room door and then said, "This meeting is a special meeting for the emergency response team. Let's proceed according to the company's regulations."
He then passed a copy of the confidentiality agreement to Fang Wei, Wang Kang, Yao Huafeng, and Chai Xinwei. After the four signed it, he got straight to the point and introduced the relevant situation of the amusement park beverage GG incident.
