Chapter 19 Hallucination
Chapter 19 Hallucination
"Kill them quickly."
As the Huang family members ran, they waved their weapons, swatting the wasps down one by one.
The wasp was slapped to the ground but was not injured. After struggling for a moment, it took flight again.
Someone hit a wasp on the head with a stick, and the wasp fell to the ground. A person rushed over and chopped its head in half with a knife.
He still wanted to collect the dead wasps, but his companions pulled him away, saying, "Still trying to collect them? Don't you want to die?"
The group of people split up and fled.
A man was running slowly and was caught by a wasp, whose stinger pierced his neck.
"ah!!"
He screamed and hurriedly swatted the wasps off his neck. His face turned red quickly, his whole body trembled, and he gasped for breath.
Like someone who suddenly suffers from oxygen deprivation.
"Ouch!" Seeing the wasps chasing after him again, he cried out in pain and quickened his pace.
At that moment, he wished he could grow another pair of legs.
In a panic, someone jumped into the nearby water to escape the wasps.
Submerged in water.
The water surged violently, turned murky, and then red blood began to gush out.
"Help!" The man surfaced, his face filled with terror, and shouted loudly.
He swam desperately toward the shore, the water churning violently beneath him, as if something was dragging his body.
"Ah!" He flailed his arms, but his body was gradually submerged in the water, leaving only the turbid water surging violently.
Wang Hao and his companions, who had originally intended to go to the river to clean their wounds, stopped in their tracks upon seeing this scene.
There are strange fish in the water.
"The wasps are coming."
"Let's go quickly."
When the group saw a swarm of wasps approaching, their expressions changed.
Those fist-sized wasps—you can imagine that if you were stung by one, it wouldn't be much better than being stung by a centipede.
Wang Hao led the group and ran quickly.
The Huang family's group had already scattered and were frantically fleeing back.
The wasp swarm dispersed, affecting an increasingly wider area.
A small swarm of wasps flew over to Zhao Meng.
The young men and women were trying to escape.
"Don't run! Shoot them all down! Shoot them all down!"
When Zhao Meng saw a swarm of wasps the size of fists, all he could think of were the crystals in his head. He immediately became excited and started directing his younger brothers and sisters to get to work.
A small swarm of wasps flew over to the property management office.
"Honey, there are so many wasps! Run!" Liu Xueqin said, running with her husband, each carrying a bag.
"Run, everyone! A swarm of wasps is coming!" Liu Xueqin shouted as she ran, trying to warn the others.
A bald man was standing in front of a bush, engrossed in picking the fruit, humming a little tune as he counted.
"One, two, three or four."
Completely unaware of the wasps' arrival, he stopped what he was doing upon hearing the sound from afar, and listened intently. "What wind? What horse?"
He was met with a swarm of wasps.
His entire head was covered by wasps, with more than a dozen stingers piercing into him.
"Ouch! That hurts so much! It hurts so much!"
The bald man frantically tore at the wasps on his head, and intense pain shot through the wound.
Unlike ordinary bees, these wasps' stingers do not fall out after piercing the human body, allowing them to repeatedly sting their prey and inject neurotoxins.
The bald man plucked all the wasps off his head and shook off their swarm.
His bald head was visibly red and swollen.
It was covered with bumps.
The wasps relentlessly pursued him.
Why are you pursuing me?
The bald man was on the verge of tears, but dared not stop. He breathed heavily, feeling the oxygen getting thinner and thinner.
A swarm of wasps rushed towards Li Hao and Li Wen.
"Puff puff puff puff".
Li Hao wielded his Damascus steel knife with such speed and precision that the swarming wasps were cut in two and fell to the ground one by one.
Li Wen added insult to injury from the sidelines.
More than a dozen wasps were reduced to corpses on the ground.
"Brother, we've struck it rich!"
Li Wen squatted on the ground, used a knife to cut open the heads of the wasps one by one, and took out small stones.
Li Hao twisted off the wasp's neck, split open its skull, took out a small pebble the size of a grain of rice, and threw it into his mouth.
One after another.
I ate a total of eight pills.
A powerful surge of heat coursed through their bodies, like drinking a bottle of strong liquor in an instant. Their faces flushed red, and they couldn't help but gasp for breath.
Li Hao weighed the Damascus steel knife in his hand; it felt lighter and lighter.
With a casual wave of his hand, he moved so fast that only a blur could be seen.
"Brother, I feel like I've become much stronger!" Li Wen lifted the bag full of insects with one hand. The bag weighed at least fifty pounds, but it felt light in his hand.
Li Hao threw the body into a bag.
The bag was full in no time.
"Hiss." He suddenly felt a stinging pain in his leg. He pulled it open and saw two ticks, each about the size of a little finger, clinging to it.
"Brother, there are so many ticks here!" Li Wen exclaimed, slapping his body repeatedly as ticks fell off one by one.
Li Hao ripped the tick off his leg and used infrared thermal imaging to look around. There were small ticks all around them.
He glanced again at the distance, where dozens of wasps were swarming in. "Let's get out of here first."
The two carried bags and walked briskly.
One by one, the residents on the road were left behind by them.
"Damn, who are those two? They're so fast!"
It felt like a gust of wind had blown by.
"They were carrying such huge bags, and they could still run so fast!"
Someone exclaimed in surprise.
Li Hao suddenly noticed that Huang Jingchen next to him was being chased by dozens of wasps, and even his bag fell to the ground.
He turned a corner, rushed over, and picked up the bag from the ground.
"That's my bag!" Huang Jingchen shouted.
"Now it's my bag."
Li Hao gave him a friendly smile.
"Eat shit!" Li Wen laughed loudly.
Huang Jingchen stared at the two men's buttocks, feeling like he was about to explode with anger.
I really wanted to chase after them, but I was forced to keep running away by these dozens of wasps.
Li Hao and Li Wen moved away from the swarm of wasps and stopped in front of a bush.
Li Hao took a sip of mineral water, glanced in the direction of the wasps, and noticed that the wasps were flying back to the canopy of a tall tree. He said to Li Wen, "We should be safe for now that we're out of the wasp territory."
"Brother, come and see what good stuff is in the bag!" Li Wen looked expectantly at the bag he had snatched.
The bag was a regular plastic bag for storing rice, and it was bulging inside, more than half full.
Li Hao opened the bag and poured out all the insects inside.
A small pile of insect corpses immediately accumulated on the ground.
Most of them were grasshoppers and mantises, with a few ladybugs and crickets here and there.
The bodies all bore knife marks; some were decapitated, and others were cut in half.
"This is the big one, and this one is too." Li Wen searched through the pile of insects.
Find six grasshoppers the size of a fist.
The rest are all small.
The watermelon-sized grasshopper carcass that they had previously stolen is also here.
It's the biggest one in the bag.
"for you."
Li Hao cut off the heads of all six grasshoppers and handed three heads to Li Wen.
He cut open the other three heads with a knife, took out small stones, and threw them into his mouth.
"Gulp."
The heat spreads rapidly throughout the body.
The muscles felt swollen again.
Li Wen put the insects into his bag. "Brother, these wasps are about the size of a fist. If we can kill a whole swarm of wasps, we can definitely get a lot of pebbles."
"The tree is too tall, and there are too many wasps, so we don't need to consider it for now," Li Hao shook his head at him.
He glanced at the towering tree in the distance, at least several tens of meters away.
Add to that the sheer number of wasps, and it becomes incredibly difficult.
Li Wen lifted his now full bag and asked, "Shall we go back now?"
The people around were being chased by wasps and had already started to walk back.
They had walked about a kilometer forward, and the big tree was about a kilometer away.
"Okay, let's head back first. There are some more insects ahead," Li Hao said to him.
The area is huge, covering one square kilometer. Even though residents have cut down most of the vegetation, there are still large areas in the middle covered with shrubs and grass.
The two continued walking back.
There's a big butterfly over there.
Li Hao could see several large butterflies from afar. Under the infrared thermal imaging, they appeared as bright red dots, standing out among the many small red dots.
Li Hao also noticed two red figures lying on the ground.
He said to Li Wen, "Go take a look over there."
The two walked up to the bushes and saw two girls lying on the ground with two bags scattered around them. A colorful butterfly the size of a fist was perched on a nearby branch.
Li Wen glanced at the two people on the ground. "Brother, there are two people." Then he looked at the butterfly. "What a big butterfly."
The butterfly flew towards the two of them.
Li Hao swung his sword, splitting the butterfly in two with a single stroke, sending shimmering powder scattering into the air.
He inhaled the powder without realizing it, and his vision immediately became blurry. The scenery in front of him became bizarre and surreal, as if he had eaten a poisonous mushroom.
The objects are brightly colored, constantly stretching and twisting.
In the blink of an eye, he was back on Earth, sitting at his post.
He shook his head, and his vision returned to normal.
"Was that just now... a hallucination?" Li Hao came to his senses.
I was somewhat surprised.
