Chapter 47 Escape and Separation
Chapter 47 Escape and Separation
"The Empire has sealed off the entire planet. How can we leave safely?"
The reminiscing didn't last long; time was precious, and they needed to leave as soon as possible.
The Empire restricted all ship launches, and once detected, they were met with cold cannon muzzles and scorching energy beams.
Lance had experienced it once on Salukamay and was somewhat familiar with the Empire's procedures.
But this time the situation is somewhat different. The empire has already laid a tight net and is waiting for the enemy to tire themselves out. A reckless breakthrough of the defense line would only be like a moth drawn to a flame.
He immediately said, "The old way, you go out the same way you came in."
Ahsoka and Master Prokong had no objections and immediately set off, leaving the cave and returning to the surface along the sewer passage.
Lance poked his head out to observe his surroundings and discovered that he was in a forest.
Sunlight, like dappled spots, sprinkled through the woods, dispelling the stench of the sewers. He smelled the fresh scent of grass and trees, and heard birdsong and insect chirps, which he found incredibly pleasant and melodious.
The thought that the Empire was still foolishly searching every house in the slums while they had already escaped through secret passages was terrifying.
A hint of smugness flashed through Lance's mind.
After confirming that there was no danger around, he was the first to jump out of the hole.
Following closely behind were Procon and Asoka, with R2 shooting a burst of flame from its rear as it flew up.
"R2, open the map."
"Beep".
A holographic projection popped up, showing the empire's military port, which was more than ten kilometers away.
They kept moving inside the pipe, losing some of their sense of time and distance.
Lance looked up at the sky; the sun was setting in the west, and it would be at least half a day before it got dark.
"Hurry up and get to the port as soon as possible."
The group remained silent, focusing on their journey, and arrived near the military port several hours later.
Whether due to a shortage of manpower in the empire or arrogance, there were not many soldiers stationed in the port, only a few dozen.
This is woefully inadequate for a port covering hundreds of thousands of square meters; there are defensive vulnerabilities everywhere.
They easily infiltrated and patiently waited for their opportunity.
Nearly an hour later, the opportunity finally arrived.
An Imperial officer emerged from a platform holding an electronic tablet, followed by four clone soldiers.
The officer raised his hand and tapped a few times on the tablet, then turned and gave some kind of order to the soldiers.
The two soldiers stood at attention, saluted, and then turned and left.
The officer nodded in satisfaction, straightened his back, and walked toward a Lambda-class shuttle with his hands behind his back.
"The opportunity has arrived!"
Lance looked at the two of them, nodded slightly, and made a few simple hand gestures.
Touch over and quickly take control.
The three men needed to quietly eliminate the two soldiers and take control of the imperial officer without making a sound.
Prokom, the most experienced and strongest Jedi Master among them, led the way and stealthily made his way over.
Hmph... Hmph.
The soldiers instinctively let out a muffled groan and collapsed to the ground, losing consciousness.
Before the officer could recover from his shock, he was subdued by Lance.
All of this happened and ended in the blink of an eye.
"You...you're Jedi...what do you want?"
Edmund stammered, watching the three men nervously.
Those damn intelligence agents, didn't they say there was only one Jedi Master?
Where did the other two people come from?
"Of course you should leave here. As long as you cooperate obediently, we will spare your life."
Edmund gritted his teeth, his eyes filled with resentment and anger.
Even if they manage to escape with their lives, they will certainly be punished by the empire afterward.
Demoted and exiled to a remote planet to serve as a minor official for the rest of his life, his ambitions and promising future will be completely ruined.
But circumstances are beyond one's control; it's better than losing one's life.
Edmund quickly made the right choice.
The thrusters emitted blue flames, the anti-gravity engine started, and the shuttle slowly rose into the air, unfolding its wings and flying rapidly into space.
As the shuttle approached the fleet stationed in space, Edmund clenched his fist, a hint of impulsiveness flashing in his eyes.
"Don't try to be clever."
Lance keenly sensed the officer's restless thoughts and warned him in a low voice.
It was like a bucket of cold water poured over Edmund's head, instantly calming him down. He watched helplessly as the spaceship passed the fleet, his face filled with despair.
A voice quickly came through the communicator: "Major General Edmund Walker, you..."
Before he finished speaking, Ahsoka activated the hyperspace engine, and the entire spaceship suddenly disappeared into the starry sky.
On the cruiser's bridge, the captain, furious, stared at the vanished shuttle and immediately issued a notice:
"Edmund Walker has betrayed the Empire and assisted the Jedi in their escape. An arrest warrant is issued immediately."
......
Lance picked up a blaster dropped by a soldier, switched it to stun mode, and slowly raised the muzzle.
Edmund hurriedly raised his hands: "Jedi...please don't kill me...I've completed your orders, you promised not to kill me..."
"That's right, I won't kill you. Go to sleep first."
Lance pulled the trigger, and a blue stream of electrons transformed into a halo around him.
Edmund rolled his eyes, fell asleep, and joined the ranks of the two soldiers.
"Lance, what are you planning to do with them?" Procon asked, looking at the three men lying on the ground.
Lance lowered his head and pondered for a moment, then said:
"The Imperial officer is still useful. Handing him over to Councilor Organa should allow us to extract a lot of useful information from him."
"As for these two clone soldiers... hand them over to the councilor as well. Once the suppression chips in their brains are removed, they should be able to return to normal."
Procon nodded, his voice tinged with guilt: "I never imagined that we were all tricked by Palpatine... but the Jedi Council bears an undeniable responsibility."
The suppression chip was not a secret within the committee.
During the Battle of Ringovinda, the Tup chip malfunctioned and prematurely triggered Command 66, instantly killing Jedi Master Tipra.
The Jedi Council launched an investigation and discovered that all the cloned humans were implanted with organic biochips during the embryonic stage.
But they naively believed the lies of Camino's chief scientist, Nara Sey:
The chip is only used to suppress Jango Fett's berserk genes, restrain the clones' extreme personalities, and improve soldiers' obedience; it does not have an assassination function.
They were unaware that the chip contained Command 66, which ultimately led to the deaths of thousands of Jedi and the near annihilation of the entire Jedi Order.
Lance didn't know how to comfort his master. The committee had raised doubts about the chip, but hadn't pursued a deeper investigation.
He thought about it carefully and felt that it was both absurd and reasonable.
The Jedi Order has existed for over 25,000 years since its founding. During this time, it has experienced ups and downs, several splits, reforms, and devastating setbacks, but it has always managed to bounce back from the bottom.
This is a long-established and weathered organization that anyone would be proud of.
Over time, arrogance arose, and the organization gradually became corrupt and stagnant.
This is a common problem for almost all long-standing organizations.
"What's past can't be undone; we must look forward."
Procon, true to his Jedi mastery, quickly recovered from his grief and looked at Lance:
"You've grown so much, it even surprises me."
He paused, then asked:
"What are your plans for the future?"
"Go pick up Gu Gu, Master, what about you?"
Procon gazed at the serene blue passageway outside the cabin, paused for a moment, and then said:
"Find Obi-Wan Kenobi and Master Yoda."
He didn't say the other half of the sentence: Correct the mistake, assassinate Palpatine.
Perhaps by assembling three top Jedi masters, they can succeed.
With Palpatine dead, the newly formed Galactic Empire will collapse instantly, and the Jedi will rise again.
But this was destined to be an extremely dangerous operation. Lance was the hope of the samurai order, and he did not want his apprentice to be in danger.
"After you pick up Gugu, you can train in the Milky Way. If little Ahsoka is willing, you can bring her along."
