Chapter 5 Anakin's Obsession, Darkness Descends
Chapter 5 Anakin's Obsession, Darkness Descends
Although Palpatine believed he had the upper hand, he remained cautious.
He stood in front of the communications console, issuing various instructions in an orderly manner.
Send more troops to besiege the Jedi Temple, blockade Coruscant, cut off communications, and create public opinion...
Every command becomes a death warrant for the Jedi.
......
Outside the Jedi Temple, Anakin was directing clone soldiers to open the gates.
"Commander Epp, how much longer will it take to crack the program?"
Aipu raised his hand in a military salute and hurriedly reported the progress:
"General, the Jedi Temple's defense system is very advanced. The soldiers are working hard to break through it, and it will probably take several hours."
The tall, heavy alloy palace doors would take a long time to break open by force.
Anakin looked at the busy soldiers, a hint of hesitation flashing in his eyes, and he couldn't help but ask himself a question.
Was it all worth it?
It might not be too late to turn back now...
The next moment, several fragments of memory flashed through my mind again.
Inside the dilapidated tent.
His mother, covered in wounds, lay in his arms, barely breathing, looking at him.
She weakly raised her hand, wanting to touch her cheek.
Her arms, outstretched in mid-air, fell limply to her sides, and her loving eyes quickly lost their luster.
He gripped his mother's hand tightly, desperately trying to hold onto the last bit of warmth.
But there's nothing I can do.
Then another memory surfaced.
Padmé lay on the bed, the sheets stained with blood.
It let out painful howls, calling out its own name.
Anakin... help me...
...Help me...Anakin.
He failed to protect his mother, and he absolutely cannot lose his beloved wife, Padmé.
He would do anything to keep his wife alive and by his side.
When this fear of loss cannot be dispelled, it transforms into raging anger.
I am outraged by the sins those sand people committed against my mother.
Therefore, his rage engulfed the entire camp, including the women and children.
Angered by the rigid and inhumane Jedi doctrines that separated them from their son and prevented them from openly declaring their marital relationship with Padmé.
He was furious that all his efforts had only resulted in scrutiny and questioning from the Jedi Council.
Deep down, he blamed everything on his own weakness.
I'm angry at my weak self.
That version of myself that even my mother couldn't protect.
Anakin was completely unaware that he had already fallen into Palpatine's trap.
His anger was channeled and amplified, quietly transforming into hatred.
Anakin looked up again, his pupils now a reddish-yellow.
He clenched his fist, feeling the powerful, surging dark primal force.
"No one can stop me from saving Padmé."
Anakin turned to look at April beside him, his tone icy:
"CC-1119, gather your soldiers and follow me."
Having lived in the Jedi Temple for over a decade, he knew its structure intimately and naturally knew its weak points.
Aip's heart skipped a beat; she vaguely sensed a change in him.
General Anakin is a brave and kind Jedi Knight who is very friendly to clones and almost never calls them by their numbers.
But the general before him, whom he knew so well, now felt somewhat unfamiliar to him.
His professional military skills and long-standing habit of obeying orders prevented him from asking any further questions, and he quickly saluted again:
"Understood, General."
......
As Lance stepped out of the communications room, he ran into a flustered Trera Soudou.
She wore a light brown Jedi robe and had long black hair.
The twelve or thirteen-year-old girl's eyes revealed an unconcealable fear and unease.
Trira lived in the same apprentice dormitory as him. She had just been promoted from a Jedi Junior to an apprentice and had heard that her master was Jedi Master Serai Junda.
Serena is a dark-skinned, middle-aged Jedi woman with long, curly black hair tied back. She also plays a beautifully-sounding instrument.
Lance looked down at the shy, inexperienced, and somewhat timid Jedi apprentice in front of him and quickly offered words of comfort.
"Don't worry, we'll be fine."
The calm voice that came from his mouth contained a peaceful power.
This is one of the new applications he developed based on Jedi Mind Control and combined with hypnosis he learned from dreams.
Using the Force as a hub, one transmits their emotions and thoughts to the other party through sound.
It loses the domineering nature of mind control, but it is much simpler to operate than mind control and consumes very little Force.
Upon hearing this, Trira's panic dissipated considerably, and she immediately remembered the task her master, Serena, had given her:
"Thank you, Lance."
"Master Jocasta has summoned everyone to the hall. Please go there immediately."
Lance nodded and strode toward the hall.
Looking back, I realized that Cuila hadn't followed; instead, she was running towards the dormitory.
He stopped in his tracks and quickly asked.
"My master asked me to bring the young disciples from the dormitory over there."
After Cuila finished speaking, she ran even faster.
Lance ignored her and hurried to the temple hall.
The spacious hall was already filled with several hundred people, most of whom were Jedi apprentices and students, while there were fewer than fifty adult Jedi warriors.
Lance looked around. The Jedi Knights were calming the crowd, but he couldn't see the Jedi Masters.
Suddenly, a middle-aged Jedi Knight saw Lance and quickly walked up to him:
"Master Jocasta is looking for you and wants you to go to the conference room immediately."
Lance walked through the hall and into the conference room.
The three Jedi Masters stood in front of the control panel, their expressions grave, intensely discussing the current situation.
Serena, Jocasta and her friend Gore, an equally aged female Jedi Master.
The holographic projection displayed a series of surveillance images from outside the temple.
The clone army has surrounded the Temple, and three Republic attack cruisers are arranged in a triangle.
The escape routes were completely blocked, both in the sky and on the ground.
In a framed image, Anakin's figure can be clearly seen, along with countless clone soldiers behind him.
Serena pressed several buttons on the communicator, but there was no response. Frustrated, she slammed her fist on the device.
"Damn it, communications have been completely cut off."
She knew very well that without outside help, the temple would soon fall.
What she found even more difficult to face was Anakin's betrayal.
Of the group, only Joecasta remained calm and composed.
After her initial bewilderment, she pieced everything together and finally saw through Palpatine's conspiracy.
By using war to disperse the Jedi Order's strength, leaving many Jedi Masters on the front lines, only a weakened Jedi Temple remained.
Clearly, Palpatine had been planning this for a long time.
Their arrogance and conceit led them to ignore the threat that was right in front of them.
No one expected that someone would dare to treat the entire Jedi Order as prey.
Jocasta understood that the samurai had long been immersed in a false sense of peace and prosperity, deceiving themselves and losing their due vigilance.
Unfortunately, it's too late now.
When darkness descends, light will lose its fertile ground for survival.
She had a premonition that the end of the Jedi Order was coming.
She was prepared to make a sacrifice.
The only things she cared about were the children in the temple and the precious knowledge left by the sages of the past.
She looked at Lance as he arrived, a resolute glint in her eyes.
