Chapter 49 Hyenas, Appearing After the War
Chapter 49 Hyenas, Appearing After the War
Jiang Ming flicked his toe and kicked the bone staff that had rolled to the ground into his hand.
Damaged Goblin Shaman Bone Staff (Materials)
[Note: Bones containing faint magical fluctuations are the core material for crafting magical equipment or special items.]
He casually tucked it into his belt and turned to walk toward the goblin camp deep in the woods.
The battle over there was also nearing its end.
Wang Yang, who had followed Zhao Yanzhi and the others into the camp, was dragging his Blazing Battle Axe, shuttling back and forth between several tents.
He would mercilessly deliver an axe blow to any goblin cub or remnant he found hiding.
Li Bin then squatted down next to the dead goblin shaman and looted the corpse.
"Old Jiang, take a look at what's that thing in this old guy's pocket."
A moment later, Li Bin caught up, holding up a bead that emitted a faint green light.
Jiang Ming didn't turn around because he was attracted by the wooden frames in the center of the camp that were entangled with vines.
Hanging on the wooden frame were not students, but several unfamiliar human corpses.
These human corpses were much larger than the students, with bronze skin and broad skeletons.
They were dressed in rough clothes made of animal hides, and wore worn-out bone ornaments around their waists.
Most importantly, their weapons were real iron, though rusty, but far superior to the students' mop handles.
Jiang Ming crouched down and turned over the collar of one of the corpses.
An antique-style wooden plaque fell out, with some kind of distorted script engraved on it.
This person is not from the school.
"Brother Jiang, look at these people's hands."
Li Bin walked over and pointed to the thick callus on the tiger's mouth of the corpse.
"This is from years of handling heavy farm tools or weapons."
Jiang Ming's fingertips traced the corpse's cold skin.
"There must be indigenous settlements nearby."
"Or perhaps, this forest originally existed within a certain civilization."
Wang Yang walked over, carrying the still-dripping battle axe, and spat on the ground.
"Who cares about the natives? They've all been killed by goblins anyway."
"Let's raid this campsite quickly; there must be treasure inside that big tent."
Jiang Ming thought what he said made sense. He had just stood up and hadn't even had a chance to speak when he noticed a number of figures appearing in the direction outside the camp.
"A lot of people are coming."
He gripped the black iron longsword in his backhand, holding the ghost-faced round shield horizontally in front of his chest.
Zhao Yanzhi and Xu Shishi also noticed the commotion and quickly directed their respective members to gather together.
The bushes at the camp entrance were roughly pushed aside.
Wei Yuan walked at the front, wearing a suit that was already a bit wrinkled.
He was followed by more than fifty people, carrying all sorts of wooden sticks and broken table legs.
Deputy Director Liu followed beside Wei Yuan, her belly protruding, clutching a short-handled axe she had picked up from somewhere.
"Attention everyone!"
A student council member shouted in a low voice through the crowd.
"Let's avoid fighting if we can; we're here to help clean up the battlefield."
"Remember Chairman Wei's words: our goal is to get a share of the pie, not to fight them to the death."
Among the crowd, Zhang Wei's bloodshot eyes were fixed on the center of the camp.
The first thing he saw was that figure, covered in blood yet remarkably composed.
Jiang Ming stood there, the menacing shield in his hand radiating a chilling aura.
What drove him even more crazy was that Su Xiaoxiao was holding a roll of gauze and approaching Jiang Ming with a worried expression.
She stretched out her fair fingers, wanting to wipe away the green bloodstains on Jiang Ming's cheek.
Jiang Ming slightly turned his head to avoid him, his movements indifferent, but Su Xiaoxiao still followed closely behind him.
"Damn it, why...?"
Zhang Wei gritted his teeth, his fingernails digging deep into the wooden stick.
He clearly leveled up and could kill monsters, so why didn't Su Xiaoxiao even glance at him?
"Jiang Ming, you've worked hard."
Wei Yuan stopped in the center of the camp, a fake smile on his face.
He glanced around at the goblin corpses scattered on the ground, a glint of greed in his eyes.
"I heard you were having trouble here, so I immediately brought a large force to come and help you."
Wang Yang stepped forward to block Jiang Ming, and his battle axe slammed heavily onto the ground.
"Support? The battle's already over and you're coming to provide support?"
"I think you're here to help your own stomach, aren't you?"
Deputy Director Liu stepped out from behind Wei Yuan, his face darkening.
"Wang Yang, how dare you speak to Chairman Wei like that?"
Do you know how much effort the student council put into organizing this rescue team?
"Now that the camp has been captured, all supplies, as public resources of the school, should be handed over and allocated by the student union."
He pointed to the corpses of the two goblin thugs, speaking as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
"Especially the supply of high-quality equipment and meat must be prioritized for the wounded and female students."
Zhao Yanzhi sneered from the side and slowly drew back the composite bow in his hand.
"Director Liu, do you think we're obligated to hand over what we risked our lives for just by talking to you?"
"Where were you hiding when the goblin shaman cast his curse?"
Wei Yuan waved his hand, signaling Deputy Director Liu to step back.
"President Zhao, you've misunderstood. We're not trying to steal anything."
"However, the campus is currently in a state of chaos. If these powerful weapons are allowed to fall into the hands of individuals, it could very likely cause unnecessary bloodshed."
He took two steps forward, his gaze fixed on Jiang Ming.
"Jiang Ming, you're a smart man. You should understand that the collective interest comes first."
"The food and supplies in this camp, as well as the weapons in your hands that do not belong to the students, should all be brought under supervision."
Jiang Ming only uttered one word:
"roll."
The once noisy campsite instantly fell into dead silence.
Wei Yuan's smile froze on his face, and his eyes twitched twice.
"What did you say?"
Jiang Ming raised his head, his dark eyes devoid of any warmth.
"I'm telling you, get out of here with your men before I start killing anyone."
The student council members began to stir, and many showed expressions of indignation.
"Jiang Ming, you're too arrogant!"
"mad?"
Wang Yang chuckled and hoisted the still-dripping Blazing Battle Axe onto his shoulder.
He tilted his head, staring at Wei Yuan's fair face with a thuggish look.
"While I was desperately killing monsters, you guys were hiding in the back doing nothing. Now that the monsters are dead, you come to claim the loot. Have you no shame?"
He took a step forward, and the intense murderous aura lingering from the monster he had just killed forced the student council members at the front to instinctively shrink back, almost stepping on the feet of those behind them.
"Mind your manners, Wang Yang."
Deputy Director Liu adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses, which had slipped off his nose. Although his calves were cramping uncontrollably, he remained defiant.
"This is a team activity, not a place for you to show off your individual heroism."
"Chairman Wei is doing this for everyone's good. With so many supplies and those dangerous weapons, can you few people possibly consume and use them all?"
