Chapter 1 Reborn as a Little Lion

The African savanna is a vast expanse of green grass, teeming with life. It is a paradise for animals, and the home of lions.

A lioness, heavily pregnant, disappeared into a dense thicket of bushes. Soon after, four cubs were born.

One of the lion cubs, after being born, looked around in astonishment at everything before it. To it, this was a completely unfamiliar world.

This little lion is named Chu Ye, and he has just been reborn on this unfamiliar grassland.

Lions lead tragic lives; not only do male lions spend their entire lives fighting, but so do female lions.

Lionesses are the laborers of the pride; they hunt to feed the entire pride. And every hunt is a battle, with the possibility of sacrifice.

Therefore, the fate of lionesses is also very tragic.

Every lioness is a brave and fearless female warrior, who not only gives birth to and raises her cubs, but also goes to the battlefield to hunt and fight.

Lionesses don't just hunt; they also sometimes participate in battles with male lions while defending their territory. A lioness spends her entire life in combat.

The lion pride that Chu Ye belonged to was indeed not very strong. Although there were thirteen lions in total, only three were adults, and the other ten were cubs.

Such a pride of lions is truly a nightmare; there are few capable workers, but many waiting to be fed.

Lisa's older sister, Elsa, gave birth to a litter of kittens at the same time as Lisa. However, Elsa had more kittens—six in total. And, a month later, all six kittens survived.

However, not all of Elsa's six cubs were strong; only four were relatively healthy, while the other two were rather thin. It is very difficult for a lioness to raise six cubs, and it is a miracle that they all survived for more than a month.

This is of course thanks to the fact that it is currently the rainy season. If it were the dry season, not only would Elsa's six cubs not have survived, but even Lisa's four cubs would not have survived.

The lion king of this pride is named Jike, a male lion in his prime, who is six years old this year. He conquered the leader of this pride a few months ago and now owns it.

This pride originally had several cubs, but they were all killed by Zeke after the pride changed hands. The ten cubs in this pride now are all Zeke's descendants.

Jike suddenly had ten children, which should have been a good thing. However, there were also some hidden worries.

A pride of lions with only two lionesses has to raise ten cubs, which puts enormous pressure on both the male and female lions in the pride.

Of course, these ten cubs are also the backbone of this pride. If all ten cubs grow to adulthood, this pride will be very powerful.

Raising all ten children to adulthood is an extremely difficult task, because the rainy season on the grasslands doesn't last very long.

Each year, the rainy season and the dry season each account for half the time. It's currently the rainy season on the savanna, and in a little over a month, it will be the dry season. During the dry season, survival becomes extremely difficult for the lions.

For the Jike lion pride, raising ten cubs during the dry season is extremely difficult, as the cubs don't reach adulthood until they are two years old. During this period, the cubs must endure two dry seasons.

During the dry season, up to 50% of the cubs may starve to death due to food shortages, or even be eaten by the male lions in their own pride. Worse still, cubs born during the dry season may be eaten by their mothers.

This sounds like an outrageous act. But on the prairie, such things are not uncommon, especially during the dry season.

Lisa returned to the pride with her four cubs.

This was an open space with a huge acacia tree in the middle and a large rock beside it. The lion Jike was resting on that rock.

Elsa returned to the pride yesterday. She and her six cubs were resting under that big tree. Elsa was lying on the ground, resting, while her six cubs played nearby.

When Lisa arrived at the tree with her four cubs, Aisha stood up. Aisha came over and cuddled with Lisa for a while; the two lionesses were sisters and had a very good relationship.

When the lion Jike saw Lisa bring her four cubs to the tree, he simply looked up at Lisa and did nothing.

It seemed that all of this was very ordinary for it.

Generally speaking, male lions do two things in their lives: fight or mate with their lionesses.

Male lions disdain the idea of ​​raising cubs. Even when they see their own offspring, they appear impatient.

The cubs seemed to know the lion's temper and rarely provoked their father.

Chu Ye returned to this big family. It felt both new and unsettling to him.
